There is nothing more likely to make you feel as cool as you look than an item of Schott clothing. Want to feel like a movie star? Just slip on a Perfecto jacket - a timeless classic since 1928.
It was the Perfecto that launched Schott onto the global stage - it is hard to imagine movie legend James Dean without his - but, today, the whole of the company’s extensive range is synonymous with hand-made quality and superior style.
The company is the result of a quest by two brothers of Russian immigrant descent to achieve their slice of the American dream. It was founded in 1913 in New York when Jack and Irving Schott began making raincoats which were sold door-to-door. They branded their leatherwear with the name of Irving’s beloved Perfecto cigar.
Then, in 1928, Irving tapped into the emerging American love of motorcycles and created the first ever leather motorcycle jacket - a symbol of adventure, excitement and danger. During World War II the company produced the bomber jacket to be worn by servicemen; yet another innovation that has withstood the test of time.
For decades the Perfecto has been the uniform of the stars, including The Sex Pistols, Blondie, Joan Jett and The Ramones, and the whole brand is associated with an edginess and bad boy image that has only added to its appeal.
The women’s and men’s clothing, ranging from leather jackets to nylon bomber jackets and car coats, embody the rebel that exists within us all, whilst the hand-cut and sewn designs add a timeless quality that is rarely found in the modern fashion world.
